Are these real hand-painted thangkas?

Yes. Every thangka is painted entirely by hand on cotton canvas with mineral and natural pigments, following the traditional iconometric grid. Gold details are real gold. We never sell prints.

How long does a thangka take to paint?

Anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on size and detail. A 24K gold mandala can take a master painter hundreds of hours.

How is it shipped?

Unframed, rolled carefully in acid-free paper inside a rigid tube, with tracking. Most orders leave Kathmandu within 3–5 working days of payment clearing.

How do I pay?

At the moment by direct bank transfer. You will see our bank details as soon as you place the order, and we reserve the piece for you. Card and PayPal payments are coming soon.

How should I hang and care for it?

Keep it away from direct sunlight and damp. It can be mounted in traditional silk brocade (we can do this for you), stretched and framed behind glass, or hung simply as a scroll.
