The story & meaning

Bring cosmic balance, peace, and sacred wisdom into your home or meditation altar with this authentic Kalachakra Thangka.

Hand-painted in the Kathmandu Valley by experienced Himalayan artists, this traditional thangka painting from Nepal captures the intricate “Wheel of Time” mandala, one of the most revered symbols of universal balance and enlightenment in Vajrayana Buddhism.

  • Master Artisan Craftsmanship: 100% hand-painted using age-old Himalayan techniques and strict Buddhist iconographic traditions.

  • Pure Mineral Pigments & 24K Gold: Created on organic cotton canvas using natural stone pigments and 24K gold leaf details that glow under light.

  • Sacred Geometry: Detailed with concentric circles, four directional gates, protective flame rings, and sacred seed syllables.

  • Versatile Sacred Decor: Perfect centerpiece for meditation altars, yoga studios, home sanctuaries, or spiritual gifts.

The term Kalachakra translates to the “Wheel of Time,” representing the interconnectedness of outer cosmology, inner energy channels, and spiritual transformation. Hanging a sacred tibetan kalachakra thangka is traditionally believed to radiate peace, purify surrounding environmental energies, ward off negative forces, and inspire deep mindfulness.

Are these real hand-painted thangkas?

Yes. Every thangka is painted entirely by hand on cotton canvas with mineral and natural pigments, following the traditional iconometric grid. Gold details are real gold. We never sell prints.

How long does a thangka take to paint?

Anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on size and detail. A 24K gold mandala can take a master painter hundreds of hours.

How is it shipped?

Unframed, rolled carefully in acid-free paper inside a rigid tube, with tracking. Most orders leave Kathmandu within 3–5 working days of payment clearing.

How do I pay?

At the moment by direct bank transfer. You will see our bank details as soon as you place the order, and we reserve the piece for you. Card and PayPal payments are coming soon.

How should I hang and care for it?

Keep it away from direct sunlight and damp. It can be mounted in traditional silk brocade (we can do this for you), stretched and framed behind glass, or hung simply as a scroll.
